Bravo Blue takes 5-gaited crownat The Red Mile

Bravo Blue took the centerpiece event of the 75th Lexington Junior League Horse Show, the ABS Five Gaited Grand Championship, by turning back Walterways What About Me at The Red Mile Saturday night.

Trainer Merrill Murray kept Courageous Lord in the barn and it was a costly decision as the Rob Byers-trained Bravo Blue edged his entry. The winner is owned by B & T Vonderschmitt LLC.

The show wrapped up Saturday with a birthday cake in honor of the show's 75th anniversary. "It's been a fun show," said Alice Vance Dearborn, show chairwoman. "It's been an exciting one."

Her grandmother and namesake, Alice Vance, was a member of the first horse show board 75 years ago.

Fourteen 14 champions were crowned Saturday. In three of those divisions, the show is considered the first leg of the Saddlebred Triple Crown, said Beth Snider, the entry secretary for the show. See Saturday's results below.
