■ With Breeders' Cup Saturday taking place on Halloween, the annual appearance by the Headless Horseman at Keeneland will take place a week early. The Headless Horseman will make an appearance in the Paddock at 9 a.m. this Saturday, Oct. 24, and will appear on the main track during races later in the day.
■ Salama, a contender for the Distaff, worked a half-mile in company in :48.60 for trainer Charles LoPresti after the morning renovation break. Fellow Distaff contender Yahilwa was also on the tab, working 5 furlongs in :59.
Turf Sprint hopeful Holy Lute worked a half-mile in :51.20 and Lady Shipman, who is also pointing for the Turf Sprint, worked 5 furlongs before the break in 1:03.20.
■ Jockey Corey Lanerie is inching closer to his first Keeneland meet title. Lanerie won two more races on Thursday's card to build a 20-16 lead over Julien Leparoux heading into the final two days of the meet.
