French invader Alterite, winner of the Grade I Garden City Stakes in her stateside debut, aims to give trainer Chad Brown his second consecutive victory in the Grade I Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes when she heads a field of nine entered for Saturday's $400,000, 11⁄8-mile turf test.
Brown saddled Dayatthespa to victory in last year's QEII and counts Martin Schwartz's Alterite as the latest turf female to strike top-level success in his care.
Stacelita and Zagora, both owned by Schwartz, each earned Eclipse Awards for champion turf female under Brown after beginning their careers overseas.
Alterite was Group 1 placed in France and showed class similar to her predecessors when she rallied off a tepid pace to win the 11⁄8-mile Garden City in a handride from jockey John Velazquez at Belmont Park Sept. 14.
