Even-money favorite Mayor Marv grabbed the lead right out of the gate and never gave it up in winning the $100,000 Turf Paradise Derby for 3-year-olds Saturday in Phoenix.
Mayor Marv, trained by Bob Baffert, turned away a challenge by Hidden Bounty at the final turn and went on to win by 41/2 lengths. Mayor Marv finished the 11⁄16-mile race in 1:43:31.
Hidden Bounty stayed up for second place and 26-1 shot Just Jebicah finished third.
Mayor Marv raced five times without a win as a 2-year-old. He ran second three times and showed once, with two of his runner-up finishes coming against Kentucky Derby contenders The Pamplemousse and Papa Clem.

He broke his maiden last time out on Jan. 19 at Santa Anita.
Georgie Boy rallies
Georgie Boy rallied to defeat Halo Najib by 2¾ lengths to win Saturday's $150,000 San Carlos Handicap at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Garrett Gomez, Georgie Boy covered 7 furlongs in 1:21.85.
Past the Point was third.
Georgie Boy was coming off a 2½ -length victory in the Sunshine Millions Sprint on Jan. 24 over the same track. He was sidelined for seven months last year because of a back injury.
