Jockey Robby Albarado, who is scheduled to ride Animal Kingdom in the Kentucky Derby, was injured after his mount tossed him off before Wednesday's third race at Churchill Downs.
Albarado was aboard Smoke'n Al when he was thrown forward and the horse stepped on him during the post parade.
Albarado was taken to Norton Audubon Hospital for treatment of a facial injury but is expected to ride Saturday.
"He's got a broken nose with lacerations around his eye," said Graham Motion, trainer of Animal Kingdom. "But I talked with (agent) Lenny Pike, and he's pretty confident he will be OK for Saturday."
