The Lexington Legends' Shannon Kidd was named the South Atlantic League's female executive of the year for 2015.
The Legends celebrated their 15th season this year, and Kidd has been an important part of the operation since the first year. She joined the team as director of operations in March 2001, about a month before the Legends played their first game.
She has continued to build on her responsibilities through the years, and now serves as director of human resources, director of stadium operations and manager of the Legends Locker merchandise store.
"Shannon is the glue that makes our game operations stick together," Legends president and CEO Andy Shea said.
A Legends press release said that on home game days, she oversees the assignments of as many as 170 full- and part-time employees, many of whom interact with fans, assisting in parking, seating, guest services and other duties.
"I tell the employees enthusiasm is contagious — and so is a negative attitude," Kidd said. "So I say 'be enthusiastic.'"
