Lexington Legends

Some good work wasted

Leandro Cespedes shut out Kannapolis for six innings but the Intimidators scored twice in the seventh and that was enough to beat the Lexington Legends 2-1 in a Wednesday afternoon game at Applebee’s Park.

Through six innings, Cespedes allowed only a single in the second and a walk in the fifth, and he faced one over the minimum number of batters. Logan Johnson, the former University of Louisville star, drew a one-out walk in the seventh and Mark Fleisher singled. Johnson advanced to third but Fleisher was thrown out at second by Legends left fielder Russell Dixon. Legends Manager Gregg Langbehn then went to his bullpen, bringing in Carlos Ladeuth. Ladeuth allowed consecutive hits to Matt Inouye, Christian Marrero and Sergio Miranda that put Kannapolis ahead.

Steve Brown provided the only offense for Lexington with a fifth-inning solo home run.
