Probable starters: (Legends listed first) Wednesday, RH Luis Pardo (0-5, 4.03) vs. LH Edgar Osuna (3-4, 3.71); Thursday, RH Jake Leonhardt (3-8, 5.40) vs. LH Richard Sullivan (0-1, 1.93); Friday, RH Leandro Cespedes (2-5, 4.86) vs. LH Jeffrey Locke (4-8, 3.75); Saturday, LH Jeff Icenogle (1-7, 5.68) vs. RH Erik Cordier (0-0, 0.00).
Brave to watch: RF Jason Heyward (6-foot-4, 220 pounds, from McDonough, Ga.) ranks fourth in the South Atlantic League with a .329 batting average, 107 hits and a .395 on-base percentage, and is tied for third with 62 runs through Monday. No. 3 in the batting order, Heyward won't turn 19 until next month. He was a first-round pick (14th overall) of the Braves last year, signing for $1.7 million. He has eight homers and 43 RBI this season, with 14 stolen bases in 15 tries, and leads Rome with six sacrifice flies.
Legend to watch: LHP Jeff Icenogle (6-2, 205, from Van Nuys, Calif.), who will start the series finale, got off to a horrible start after missing the first month of the season because of a calf injury. He has shown signs of turning things around, though. In three starts this month, his 0-2 record belies his effectiveness — a 2.65 ERA over 17 innings, during which he struck out 19 and walked four. Opponents are batting .295 against him overall, but .220 over his last three games.
