Brave to watch: OF Luis Sumoza (6-foot, 170 pounds, from Maracay, Venezuela) was obtained by the Braves last September in a trade that sent Mark Kotsay to the Red Sox. Sumoza led the Gulf Coast League with 24 extra-base hits over 53 games in 2007. In 16 games this season, Sumoza is hitting .224 with a double, triple and homer, five RBI and seven runs. Baseball America rates him as the 21st-best prospect in the Braves system.
Legend to watch: C Federico Hernandez (6-0, 170, from Caracas, Venezuela) leads the Legends with 10 RBI and shares the lead with two homers over 14 games. The Astros signed him in 2006, when he was 18, and converted him to a catcher. After two seasons in Venezuela, he moved to Greeneville in 2008, where Appalachian League managers picked him as the top defensive catcher. A switch hitter and cousin of Reds catcher Ramon Hernandez, he is hitting .217, likely to improve. His previous three seasons, he hit .291. He is the No. 20 prospect in the Astros system, according to Baseball America.
