Legends win in 11th after falling behind 12-4

Down 12-4, the Lexington Legends rallied for three runs in the eighth inning and five runs in the ninth before getting two runs in the 11th to defeat the host Greenville (S.C.) Drive on Friday night.

The Legends' winning rally in the 11th started with two outs. Brandon Wikoff singled and came around to score when Christopher Jackson's single was mishandled by Tourists right fielder Shannon Wilkerson. Andrew Simunic followed with a walk and Albert Cartwright doubled to score Jackson.

The Legends got their rally started in the eighth when Michael Diaz led off with a double. Brian Pellegrini reached on an error to put runners on the corners and Eric Suttle singled to score Diaz. A triple by Jeff Hulett scored both runners and cut the Legends' deficit to 12-7.

Lexington loaded the bases to lead off the ninth and got its first run of the inning when Pellegrini walked to score Simunic. A pair of run-scoring singles by Brown and Suttle followed. Hulett hit a sacrifice fly and Wikoff singled in Brown to tie the game at 12-12.

Diaz and Suttle had three hits apiece for the Legends. Hulett had five RBI, including a two-run single in the fourth.

Brian Wabick (6-1) pitched two scoreless innings for the victory. Patrick Urkfitz got his 12th save.
