Bono's gem caps season-ending sweep

Robert Bono pitched a four-hitter, and the Lexington Legends closed the South Atlantic League season on a positive note Monday with a 5-1 win over the Bowling Green Hot Rods.

Lexington swept the four-game series in Bowling Green and won 12 of its last 17 games.

Albert Cartwright and Freddie Hernandez each had three hits for Lexington, and Marques Williams drove in two runs. Eric Suttle hit his first home run of the season, a leadoff shot in the ninth.

The Legends had 12 hits, giving them 42 for the series.

Bono (10-8) did not allow a base runner until Mike Sheridan's two-out single in the fifth inning. He struck out four, allowed four hits and walked none for his third complete game of the season, second-most in the league.

The Legends open the 2010 season April 8 in Charleston, S.C. Their home opener is April 16 at Applebee's Park against the Greenville Drive.
