Legends defeat Power with late homer

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A home run by J.D. Martinez broke a tie in the eighth inning, and the Lexington Legends held on to beat the West Virginia Power 3-2 on Sunday.

In the top of the seventh, Lexington's Jiovanni Mier reached first base on a throwing error by Power reliever Mike Williams, who committed a second throwing error while attempting to pick Mier off first, allowing him to advance to second. Brian Kemp grounded out for the second out, but Jose Altuve singled to left field, scoring Mier to make it 2-2.

Martinez led off the eighth inning with his 14th home run of the year, a drive over the wall in right field. It was Martinez's fourth home run of the series, which is now even at two wins each.
