Mier homer shy of cycle in Lexington's 17-hit show

Jiovanni Mier had a single, double and triple, and the Lexington Legends collected 17 hits on their way to a 10-3 win over Delmarva on Tuesday night in Salisbury, Md.

The score was 1-1 in the third when Lexington's Grant Hogue was hit by a pitch. Mier tripled, scoring Hogue, A double by Jake Goebbert gave Lexington a 3-1 lead.

In the fifth, Hogue doubled and scored on a single by Mier. Mier stole second, Goebbert walked and Ben Heath singled to load the bases. Mier scored on Aaron Bray's force play at second, and the Legends led 5-1.

Lexington got five runs in the ninth. Back-to-back doubles by Mier and Jimmy Paredes scored Mier, and Heath tripled to score Paredes. Bray followed with a single, bringing home Heath. Brian Kemp was hit by a pitch, and runners later moved to second and third on a wild pitch. A double by Bubby Williams scored Lexington's final two runs.

Delmarva then got two runs on a homer by T.J. Baxter.
