Legends scratch out 4-3 win over Drive

Lexington shortstop Jiovanni Mier homered and singled, and the Legends made the most of four hits in a 4-3 win over the Greenville Drive on Wednesday night at Applebee's Park.

Mier led off the bottom of the fourth inning with his second home run of the year, a line drive over the wall in left field, to give the Legends a 1-0 lead.

The Legends broke a 3-3 tie in the eighth inning when Mier grounded to third baseman Michael Almanzar, whose errant throw home allowed Grant Hogue to score from third.

Kirk Clark struck out all three batters he faced in the top of the ninth for his 26th save, tying him for the South Atlantic League lead with Alejandro Ramos of Greensboro.
