Eighth-inning spurt boosts Legends

Tanner Bushue pitched six shutout innings, and the Lexington Legends broke open the game with five runs in the eighth inning to beat the Augusta GreenJackets 8-2 on Sunday night in Augusta, Ga.

Lexington scored one run in the first inning and two runs in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead. A four-hit, three-walk barrage in the eighth — highlighted by Aaron Bray's RBI double over the head of Augusta center fielder Skyler Stromsmoe — put the Legends ahead 8-0.

Bushue (7-8), a right-hander, allowed three hits, walked two and struck out four over his six scoreless innings.

Lexington's Brad Dydalewicz and Daniel Sarisky allowed one run each in relief.

Bray led the Legends' attack on offense, going 2-for-5 with three RBI. His broken-bat single in the fifth scored Jake Goebbert and Kody Hinze to make it 3-0.

Jiovanni Mier, Jonathan Meyer and Renzo Tello also had two hits apiece.

Lexington has won the first two games of the four-game series, which continues Monday night.

Augusta starter Chris Heston (5-12) allowed just one earned run in five innings. Reliever Craig Clark surrendered four of the Legends' five runs in the eighth.

Former University of Louisville standout Chris Dominguez was 3-for-3 with an RBI double for Augusta.
