The Lexington Legends struck early, then held on to defeat the Augusta GreenJackets 5-4 Sunday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
The Legends scored three runs off Justin Schumer (2-2) in the first inning. Back-to-back doubles by Jiovanni Mier and Adam Bailey produced the first run of the game. After Chris Wallace was hit by a pitch, Mike Kvasnicka singled to score Bailey and move Wallace to third. Wallace then scored on Daniel Adamson's sacrifice fly.
Kvasnicka and Adamson singled in two more runs in the bottom of the third.
Augusta's Devin Harris hit a solo home run in the second inning, and former University of Louisville star Adam Duvall hit a two-run homer in the fourth for a 5-3 game.
