Legends give up 17 hits, lose 9-6

The Kannapolis Intimidators pounded out 17 hits on their way to a 9-6 win over the Lexington Legends on Monday night in Kannapolis, N.C.

The Legends took a two-run lead in the top of the first. With one out, Jiovanni Mier singled and Adam Bailey walked. Both scored when Chris Wallace doubled to the wall in center field. Wallace leads the South Atlantic League with 30 runs batted in.

Kannapolis tied it in the second. Mike Blanke led off with a double, and scored on a single by Dan Black. Mt. Sterling native Drew Lee later singled to scoring Black.

Lee, who was 11-for-19 in an earlier series in Lexington, was 2-for-4 Monday night, including a triple. Lee is batting .404 with 12 RBI in 14 games.

The Intimidators took a 4-2 lead in the third inning on RBI singles by Brady Shoemaker and Blanke, and they added four more in the fourth, a rally that included a two-run triple by Ross Wilson.

Kannapolis added a single run in the seventh inning to lead 9-2 before the Legends came back with four in the eighth, helped by three walks and an error.
