Crawdads stage 4-run, two-out rally in 9th to beat Legends

The Lexington Legends had Hickory down to its last out when the Crawdads rallied for four runs in the top of ninth and held on to win 8-7 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark Thursday night.

In the bottom of the inning, the Legends got two runners on with walks, but Jiovanni Mier lined out to end the game.

Catcher Tomas Telis, who had three hits for the winners, had the last of three straight singles in the top of the ninth to drive in Odubel Herrera, who had singled to drive in a run and moved to second on a passed ball.

Joshua Richmond homered for Hickory in the second inning.

Mier had three hits, including two doubles, and scored three runs for the Legends. Right fielder Adam Bailey had three hits and knocked in two runs and catcher Roberto Pena homered for the Legends, who scored in five straight innings from the third through the seventh.

Lexington starter Mike Foltynewicz allowed two runs and six hits in six innings.

Hickory reliever Jorge Marban got the win after retiring five straight, three with strikeouts.
