Augusta defeats Legends 8-3; Ex-U of L star Duvall homers again

The Augusta GreenJackets built a 6-0 lead after five innings and went on to beat the Lexington Legends 8-3 on Monday night in Augusta, Ga.

Augusta won the first game of the series 4-3 in the 10th inning on Sunday.

Former University of Louisville star Adam Duvall homered for the second straight night. His solo shot in the bottom of the first was his South Atlantic League-leading 16th of the season.

Josh Mazzolla and Ryan Lollis added three hits apiece for the GreenJackets.

Lexington's Chris Wallace was 2-for-3, including his 13th home run of the year, a solo shot in the seventh inning that provided the Legends' first run. Wallace has 43 RBI.

Lexington added two in the ninth off former Legend Tommy Vessella, who signed earlier this year with the San Francisco Giants' organization.

Taylor Rogers (6-6) worked the first seven innings to get the win. He allowed three hits, including the home run by Wallace. He improved his ERA to 2.40.

Legends starter Alex Sogard (1-2) took the loss after giving up five runs and striking out three in 41⁄3 innings.
