Legends end first half with sixth straight win

The Lexington Legends closed the first half of the South Atlantic League season on a six-game winning streak Sunday with a 4-2 win over the Rome Braves in Rome, Ga.

The victory also brought the Legends to the .500 mark for the first half at 35-35.

Chris Wallace hit a three-run homer in the third inning, and Adam Bailey drove in the other run for the Legends with a single in the sixth.

Mike Foltynewicz (4-6) pitched five innings to win his fourth straight decision. He allowed seven hits and two runs, striking out three.

Rome got RBI singles from Hilton Richardson in the second inning and Kyle Rose in the fourth.

Rome threatened in the sixth against Legends reliever Brian Streilein. The Braves put runners on first and second with two out, but Rose grounded out to Streilein to end the inning.

Streilein and Jorge De Leon retired nine of the last 10 Braves batters. De Leon worked the final two innings for his 10th save.

Lexington will open the second half at home on Thursday against the Greenville Drive.
