Misplay propels Savannah past Legends

Darrell Ceciliani, Savannah's designated hitter and leadoff man, doubled and scored in the first and broke a 1-1 tie by driving in a run in the seventh to lead the Sand Gnats past the host Lexington Legends 4-2 Friday night at  Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

With runners on second and third and two outs in the seventh, Ceciliani hit a ground ball that was fielded by first baseman Telvin Nash, but relief pitcher Gabriel Garcia didn't cover the base and both runners scored. Ceciliani was credited with a hit. Savannah starter Angel Cuan ran his record to 8-1 by holding the Legends to one run on four hits over six innings. He struck out two.

Ben Heath led off the Lexington second inning with his first homer of the season. The Legends got their other run in the eighth when Ben Orloff tripled and Delino DeShields Jr. knocked him in with a single to right.
