Former University of Louisville star Adam Duvall returned to the Augusta lineup for the first time since July 21 and delivered two doubles and drove in two runs as the GreenJackets defeated the Lexington Legends 5-2 Thursday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
Duvall, who had been sidelined by a hamstring injury, drove in the game's first run when he doubled in the second inning, scoring Josh Mazzola, who had led off the inning with a single.
The Legends tied the score in the bottom of the fifth off Augusta starter Mike Kickham (4-7), who worked six innings and allowed two hits. He retired the first 10 Lexington batters before Jay Austin walked in the fourth inning.
Augusta broke the tie in the seventh on a double by Ryan Scoma and an RBI single by Joel Weeks. Mazzola led off the ninth with his 11th home run of the year to start a three-run burst by the GreenJackets.
Lexington's Ben Heath hit his fourth home run of the year in the bottom of the ninth to close out the scoring.
The Legends' Mike Foltynewicz (5-9) took the loss. In 62⁄3 innings, he allowed five hits and two runs, walked one batter and struck out seven.
