Down 7-0 to Asheville in the sixth, the Lexington Legends rallied to send the game to extra innings before the Tourists' second grand slam of the night finished them off 12-8 in 10 innings Wednesday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
Brett Tanos led off the game with a home run and Mark Tracy hit a grand slam in the fifth to help stake the Tourists to a 7-0 lead.
A two-run home run by Domingo Santana and a three-run shot by Ben Orloff in the sixth cut Asheville's lead to 7-5.
The Tourists pushed their lead to 8-5 on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Parker in the seventh inning. But the Legends evened it up on Emilio King's three-run home run in the eighth.
Lexington had a shot to win the game in the ninth. Santana led off with a walk. Tyler Parker hit a one-out single to give the Legends runners at first and second. But Mike Kvansnicka grounded into a double play to end the threat.
Asheville wasted no time taking the lead in the 10th. Its first three batters reached base before Dustin Garneau homered to left field off relief pitcher Brian Streilein.
