Legends pounce on Greenville errors, win 4-2

Behind strong pitching by starter Mike Foltynewicz and two relievers, the Lexington Legends came away with a 4-2 win over the host Greenville Drive on Wednesday.

The Legends scored two runs without a hit in the second inning. Matt Duffy led off with a walk, went to second on a wild pitch and scored when Drew Muren's fly ball down the left-field line was dropped by left fielder Keury De La Cruz for an error. Muren later scored from third on a wild pitch by Greenville starter Madison Younginer.

The Legends added a run in the fourth when Zach Johnson tripled to center field and came home when shortstop Jose Vinicio's relay throw to third went into the dugout.

Greenville first scored in the fifth on an error by shortstop Jimmy Howick.

In the sixth, the Legends scored again when Greenville right fielder Henry Ramos lost a fly ball hit by Mike Kvasnicka. The ball fell for a double, and Muren, who had walked earlier, scored.

Greenville scored its final run in the seventh when Vinicio tripled and came home on an error by Chris Epps, the right fielder.

Foltynewicz (4-1) allowed one unearned run in six innings to get the win. He lowered his earned run average to 1.62.
