Foltynewicz gets sixth win as Legends beat back Crawdads

Three big hits to center field in the top of the sixth inning gave Lexington two runs for a 4-3 lead, and the Legends padded the cushion for a 7-3 victory over the Hickory Crawdads Thursday night.

James Howick started the rally with a double. Then Delino DeShields hit a triple and Jordan Scott drove him in with a single.

Catcher Roberto Pena hit a two-run homer in the ninth.

It was the Legends' eighth win in their last 10 games.

Mike Foltynewicz ran his record to 6-1, allowing three runs in six innings. He struck out seven.

After a combined total of 10 hits in their last two games, the Legends got 13 Thursday. Scott led the way with three.

DeShields, Howick, Chris Epps and third baseman Matt Duffy had two each. Duffy, who scored twice, is now hitting .326.

Lexington's Zach Johnson got his 49th RBI, tops in the South Atlantic League. DeShields added to his league-leading stolen-base total with his 30th, matching his total from last season.

Hickory stars Hanser Alberto and Christopher Grayson, boasting better than .300 averages, were hitless.
