NBA notes: Cousins nearly posts 20-20 in Kings' win

Tyreke Evans scored a season-high 29 points, former Kentucky star DeMarcus Cousins had 21 points and a career-high 19 rebounds and the Sacramento Kings snapped a seven-game losing streak in Toronto by beating the Raptors 98-91 Wednesday night.

Leandro Barbosa came off the bench to score a season-high 24 points for the Raptors.

Wednesday's highlights

Lakers 90, Jazz 87: Kobe Bryant scored 40 points and Andrew Bynum blocked Al Jefferson's shot with 1.9 seconds left in overtime to lift host Los Angeles. Bryant missed a shot at the buzzer that would have won it in regulation for Los Angeles.

Mavericks 90, Celtics 85: Dirk Nowitzki scored 16 points, driving past Kevin Garnett for the go-ahead layup with 5.1 seconds left and leading Dallas to victory in Boston. Dallas led most of the game, but Paul Pierce hit a three-pointer — just his second basket of the night — to tie it at 85 with 25 seconds to play.

Bulls 78, Wizards 64: John Lucas III scored a career-high 25 points filling in for injured Derrick Rose and host Chicago beat Washington for its third victory in three nights. Lucas, starting for the first time in his 70-game NBA career, was at the point in place of MVP Rose, who was out with a sprained big left toe.

Knicks 85, 76ers 79: Carmelo Anthony had 27 points and ex-Cat Josh Harrellson added 13, including seven in the first quarter, for host New York.
