Munchak Titans' new head coach

The Tennessee Titans have hired Mike Munchak as the franchise's 16th head coach, deciding to promote from within to replace Jeff Fisher.

The Titans confirmed the hiring Monday.

Munchak was the first man interviewed to replace Jeff Fisher and had been considered the top candidate as a favorite of team owner Bud Adams.

This will be the first head coaching job for Munchak.

Fans swarm Lambeau Field

Scores of exhausted but euphoric Green Bay Packer fans are descending on Lambeau Field to buy up Super Bowl championship gear.

Brett Elliott of Abrams took a day off from work to visit the stadium's pro shop. He bought seven Super Bowl champion T-shirts. Still hoarse from screaming during the game, he says a couple shirts are for him and the rest for his co-workers.

Seventeen-year-old Ashley Ellis and her friend, 18-year-old Ashley Christensen, both of Oak Creek, drove to Green Bay at 5 a.m. Monday. They hit the pro shop — Ellis got a Super Bowl cap before they sold out — and planned to stake out a spot for the team's welcome home parade Monday afternoon.

400 ticket holders offered seats next year

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says the problems with hundreds of seats at the Super Bowl was "obviously a failure on our behalf," and the league takes responsibility.

Goodell says Monday that "there's no excuses" for fans having to give up their spots in the stands because of structural issues with temporary seating.

The league scrambled to find replacement spots for 850 fans and tried to find places with a view of the field for 400 more people who gave up their seats at Cowboys Stadium on Sunday night.

The 400 ticket holders who were denied seats were offered free tickets to next year's Super Bowl as guests of the NFL, Goodell said.

Broncos' Royal recovers from hip surgery

Denver Broncos wide receiver Eddie Royal is recovering from an off-season hip operation.

Team spokesman Patrick Smyth says the Broncos are hopeful Royal "will be ready for OTAs in late May."

A key component of Denver's deep receiving corps, Royal had a bounce-back 2010 season despite dealing with a nagging groin injury all year.
