MLB—Suspended Detroit RHP Jeremy Bonderman for three games and fined him an undisclosed amount for intentionally throwing at Minnesota's Delmon Young during an Oct. 1 game. Suspended Detroit hitting coach Lloyd McClendon for one game and fined him an undisclosed amount for Bonderman's intentional actions after warnings had been issued to both clubs earlier in the game. Fined Minnesota LHP Jose Mijares, Detroit manager Jim Leyland and catcher Gerald Laird undisclosed amounts for their actions in the game. Suspended INF Stephen King of the Washington Nationals organization and C Wilson Contreras of the Chicago Cubs organization 50-game after each tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
