South Laurel barely outscored Marion County's Kyvin Goodin-Rogers in the second round of the Republic Bank Classic at Lexington Catholic Sunday.
The 6-foot-1 freshman standout scored 24 points, pulled down eight rebounds and grabbed six steals as the top-ranked Lady Knights cruised to a 61-33 win and a spot in the quarterfinals against Sacred Heart on Monday.
Sophomore guard Bre Elder had 14 points and four boards, and freshman Makayla Epps chipped in with 12 points and four assists.
Jessica Dean scored 18 points to lead the Lady Cards, who were held to nine points on 19 percent shooting in the second half.
No. 4 Sacred Heart 66, Wayne County 47: Monica McGreal had 15 points and five rebounds, and Mary Gordon Stough added 12 points to lead the Valkyries to the quarterfinals.
SHA shot 48 percent from the floor and forced 27 turnovers.
Jessica Hardin led the Lady Cardinals with 17 points, and Kayla Bowlin added 15 points and five assists.
The Valkyries face Marion County on Monday.
No. 6 Mercy 66, Bullitt East 54: Juliann Miller led all scorers with 24 points, and Therese Montano added 13 to lead the Jaguars to the quarterfinals. They'll face Elizabethtown on Monday.
No. 9 Elizabethtown 44, Highlands 41: Natalie Greenwell and Kaylyn Cecil scored 14 points apiece, and the Panthers held off the Bluebirds to make the quarterfinals.
Adelaide Luckett added 10 points and 12 rebounds for E-town, who will take on Mercy Monday night.
Belah Towles led the Bluebirds with 14 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.
