Illinois man is 15th to roll perfect series

Bowling a 300 game would be the thrill of a lifetime for most bowlers. Bowling three in a series is unthinkable for most bowlers. But Andrew Mank of Belleville, Ill., rolled a perfect 900 series on March 18 in the Thursday Men's Handicap League at Bel-Air Bowl in Belleville.

Mank, who has been bowling since age 3, is no stranger to high scores. Entering this season he had rolled several 300 games and 800 series. Mank became the 15th bowler in history to roll a United States Bowling Congress-approved 900 series. The first was rolled by Jeremy Sonnenfeld on Feb. 2, 1997 in Lincoln, Neb. The last person to roll a 900 was Andrew Teall of Medford, N.J., on Nov. 2, 2009.

The winter leagues are just about over and the summer season will begin later this month. There are openings for summer leagues at all area centers. Check with your favorite center for the summer league that's right for you.
