Nick Ciolli and Trayce Thompson hit back-to-back solo home runs in the sixth inning to lift the Kannapolis Intimidators to a 3-2 victory over the Lexington Legends on Monday night at Applebee's Park.
Kannapolis jumped ahead 1-0 in the top of the second when Thompson singled in Ian Gac, who had led off with a double.
The Legends got the run back in the bottom of the second on a base hit by Kody Hinze. J.D. Martinez, who had doubled to deep center field and went to third on a passed ball, scored the run.
Lexington grabbed the lead the in the third. Jiovanni Mier singled, stole second, went to third on an infield out and scored on Martinez' sacrifice fly.
The 2-1 lead lasted until the top of the sixth. With one out, Ciolli hit his second home run of the year to tie the game. Thompson followed with his fourth of the season to put Kannapolis ahead.
Kannapolis starter Cameron Bayne (2-3) pitched the first six innings to earn the victory. Jose Cisnero (1-1) took the loss after working the first five and two-thirds innings. He gave up all three runs.
