Former Morehead State star Kelly Kulick has been selected as a finalist for the Women's Sport Foundation Sportswoman of the Year. The winner will be announced Oct. 12 at the 31st annual Salute to Women in Sports Awards in New York.
Kulick, 33, is one of 20 finalists representing 20 different sports. In January, Kulick became the first woman to capture a Professional Bowlers Association tour title. Kulick defeated Chris Barnes to win the 45th Tournament of Champions and its $40,000 first prize.
Among her accomplishments are two Queens titles in the United States Bowling Congress and two Women's U.S. Open championships. In 2006 she became the first woman to earn a full-season exemption on the PBA Tour.
While at Morehead State, Kulick was a three-time collegiate All-American and was named Woman Collegiate Player of the Year twice.
