Professional Bowlers Association veteran Chris Barnes accomplished a rare feat last Sunday when he captured the PBA World Championships. Barnes became only the sixth bowler in PBA history to capture the sport's career triple crown, which includes the PBA Tournament of Champions and the U.S. Open.
The 40-year-old Barnes of Double Oak, Texas, added the title to his 2005 victory in the U.S. Open and his 2006 victory in the Tournament of Champions. Others to achieve the feat are Billy Hardwick, Johnny Petraglia, Pete Weber, Mike Aulby and Norm Duke.
The title was the 13th in Barnes' career.
