Collins' pro shops to change management

When the new bowling season begins Aug. 1, there will be a change at Collins Bowling Centers.

The Collins family operates both Eastland and Southland lanes and has always had a pro shop at both locations. However, Jim Dunn and his Blue Grass Bowling group will begin leasing from the centers to run the pro shops.

Dunn, a United States Bowling Congress-certified bowling instructor, has run a bowling shop near Southland the past few years. He has also sold and serviced golf equipment.

Dunn will move his shop into the old meeting room at Southland and hopes the renovation work will be done by August. He will take over the existing space at Eastland and will be hiring. Dunn will also continue to offer lessons.

The change at Southland coincides with its 50th anniversary. It opened August 1961. Eastland opened two years earlier.
