The 64th annual Kentucky Open Championships will be July 22-24 in Louisville. The scratch event is open to all USBC-sanctioned bowlers. The tournament has men's and women's divisions, and the event will use four venues in Louisville.
The first block will be rolled on Friday, July 22, at 6:30 p.m. at Executive Strike & Spare. The second round will be at 9 a.m. July 23 at Dixie Bowl and the third at 3:45 p.m. July 23 at Shively Strike & Spare. The finals will be held July 24 at AMF Rose Bowl Lanes.
The men's first prize is $1,500, and the women's is $900. Both the men's and women's winners will receive a paid entry to the 2012 U.S. Open Tournament.
Louisville's Tony Lambert and Alisia Kellow are the defending men's and women's champions. Lexington's Melinda Craig was the women's runner-up last year, and Melanie Fairchild of Nicholasville was fourth. Craig is a four-time champion in the event (1993, 2003, 2008 and 2009). Fairchild won in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
