The 2011-12 season was a high-scoring one for local bowlers. There were 46 perfect games and 14 series of 800 or better.
Three bowlers rolled three perfect games apiece — Matt Fitch, Billy Short and Chris Sweet. Michael Mynear and Short both had two 800 series. Mynear had a season-best 847.
Thirty-four bowlers accounted for the 46 perfect games, and 14 bowlers had 800 series. During the previous season there were 39 perfect games by 34 bowlers and 14 bowlers rolled 16 series of 800 or better. Kenny Stephens had a season-best 843.
■ One local league — the James R. Wafford Memorial League at Collins Bowling Centers-Southland — is expected to have 28-30 teams this season, which would make it the largest in the Lexington USBC.
Last season the league had 14 perfect games and three series of 800 or better.
The league plays on Monday nights.
