Local bowler chases 800-series record

Greater Lexington USBC Hall of Famer Kenny Stephens bowled his fourth 800 series of 2012, an 807, on Dec. 28 in the Friday Night Fun League at Collins Bowling Centers-Eastland.

Stephens, who put together games of 259, 269 and 279, is making a run at the Greater Lexington USBC record for 800 series in a season held by Chip Aki. who had seven during the 1999-2000 season.

■ City tournament time is here again, and with the merger of the men's and women's associations the two tournaments will be held together at Collins Bowling Centers-Eastland.

The men's tournament will be the Greater Lexington USBC Open Tournament and the women's event will be the Greater Lexington USBC Women's Tournament. They will run the weekends of Feb. 16-17 and Feb. 23-24. Entry for both tournaments is $22 per person per event.

The entry deadline for either tournament is Feb. 1.
