Local bowlers were on a roll this past week, posting three 800 series and two perfect games.
Mike Cunningham led the scoring parade with an 813 series on Sept. 30 in the Beltline League at Collins Bowling Centers-Southland.
Cunningham, who had never rolled a 700 series, went straight to 800 by rolling games of 290-255-268.
Matt Cracraft was next, rolling an 810 on Sept. 29 in the James R. Wafford Memorial League also at Southland. Cracraft posted games of 300-235-275.
The third 800 was rolled by Greater Lexington USBC Hall of Famer Bill Carrithers, who tossed an 801 on Sept. 30 in the Beltline League. Carrithers rolled games of 266-280-255.
In addition to Cracraft's 300, there was the first by a youth bowler this season. Chester Hukle, rolling in the Saturday morning youth league at Southland, sandwiched his perfect game between a 237 and 184 for a 721 series.
The ladies also came close with Sonya Coomer rolling a 297 in the Friday Night Fun League at Eastland on Sept. 25.
In all, there have been five series of 800 or better this season and five perfect games. All have been rolled at Southland Lanes.
