Jerry Crowe makes his season bright with 800 series

Jerry Crowe gave himself something extra to celebrate for the holidays by rolling an 800 series the day before Thanksgiving in the New Circle League at Collins Bowling Centers-Eastland.

Crowe rolled games of 279-297-239 for an 815 series. It was the ninth series of 800 or better in Lexington leagues this season.

■ The 36th Bradley Open Tournament will be held at Collins Bowling Centers-Eastland on Jan. 10-11.

The scratch singles event is open to the first 264 entries, and the entry fee is $300. First prize will be $10,000 and a paid entry to the 2016 USBC Masters Tournament.

Last year's champion was Tommy Jones, a national touring pro from Simpsonville, S.C.

The last winner from Lexington was Danny Hensley in 1982. The last local winner was Greater Lexington USBC Hall of Famer Mike Fairchild of Nicholasville, who won the 1991 event. He also won in 1986.
