Bryan Gaines won the first Greater Lexington USBC 800/300 Roll Off Tournament on April 29 at Collins Bowling Centers-Eastland.
Gaines rolled a 249 game across 12 lanes to win the $500 first prize. Second place went to Louis Barragan, who closed with eight straight strikes to bowl a 246 and earn $300. Cameron Ewert finished third, rolling a 245 to win $200.
The tournament was a joint effort of the Greater Lexington USBC and Collins Bowling Centers. It was open to everyone who rolled a qualified 800 series or 300 game this season.
Thirty-two of 44 eligible bowlers participated.
Ewert accomplished the unusual feat of rolling three 800 series, all without a 300 game, this season. His 835 on Jan. 22 was the high series in the Greater Lexington USBC this season.
■ Greater Lexington USBC Youth Association bowler Wesley Yazell, 11, rolled a 300 game on April 25 in the Kentucky State USBC Youth state tournament in Bowling Green.
