Three from Central Kentucky claim top equestrian awards

Three equestrians from the Central Kentucky area were honored during the 2015 United States Equestrian Federation Pegasus Awards on Friday.

Martha Rattner of Georgetown took home the Norman K. Dunn Trophy, which goes to an equestrian competing at halter or in-hand.

Elisabeth Goth of Lebanon was named 2015 Equestrian of the Year and earned the C.J. “June” Cronan Trophy, which is presented to those exceling in under saddle show breeds

Misdee Wrigley Miller of Lakewood Ranch, Fla., who owns Hillcroft Farm in Paris, received the Bill Robinson Trophy, which goes to an equestrian competing with horses or ponies across all breeds in harness or for driving performance in non-international competitions

Rattner’s year included four national championships, four regional championships, five national top-10 finishes, and six regional top-five finishes in in-hand competition.

Goth’s 2015 included three titles at the Kentucky State Fair World Championship Horse Show in Louisville, in addition to championships at the Midwest Charity Horse Show in Springfield, Ill., and the Blue Ridge Classic in Asheville, N.C. Her most successful outing came at the UPHA/American Royal National Championship in Kansas City, Mo., where Goth won all but one of the five classes in which she competed.

Wrigley Miller won the coaching championship at the Devon (Pa.) Horse Show, and followed that with wins in Kentucky at the CAA Carriage Festival and Lexington Junior League Charity Horse Show. She capped the year by sweeping the Amateur Fine Harness division at the UPHA/American Royal National Championships.
