UK softball: 'We are trying to figure out how to win a championship'
The University of Kentucky softball team is thinking bigger than ever entering the 2016 season.
The Wildcats open play Friday in the Kajikawa Classic at Tempe, Ariz., with an eye on the end game.
Showing improvement year over year, finishing near the top of the Southeastern Conference and advancing deep into postseason play have become regular occurrences at Kentucky.
How about a College World Series? UK has been to only one, in 2014. No, Coach Rachel Lawson says it’s time for this program to reach for the next rung.
“We are trying to figure out how to win a championship,” she said during the team’s media day activities this week.
The quest begins Friday, when the Wildcats take on Notre Dame and Oregon State.
