The University of Kentucky softball team will open NCAA Tournament play Friday at 6 p.m.

Game times for this weekend’s NCAA Lexington Regional at UK’s John Cropp Stadium were confirmed Monday.

Kentucky (43-12) will take on Butler (28-22) in the second game on Friday, following a 3:30 p.m. contest between Illinois (35-21) and Utah (32-19).

The Cats’ opener was originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m., but the time change was announced later in the afternoon.

The double-elimination tournament continues with three games Saturday and either one or two games Sunday. The regional champion advances to super-regional play next week, with the College World Series to follow that. Kentucky is the No. 9 overall seed in the 64-team NCAA field.

Games in Lexington will not be shown live in their entirety on broadcast television. Portions of some games may be featured during ESPNU’s “whip-around coverage” throughout the weekend. Every game is available online on ESPN3.com and on the WatchESPN app.

Tickets are on sale at the Joe Craft Center ticket office on UK’s campus or online at UKathletics.com
