Bryan Station defeated Frederick Douglass, 3-0, in the 42nd District volleyball tournament semifinals at Sayre on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. The Defenders qualified for the 11th Region tournament and will play Henry Clay in the 42nd District finals.
Just past midnight Oct. 18, the statue of John Hunt Morgan was lifted by crane onto a flat-bed semi truck. The statue was one of two controversial Confederate monuments removed by the city of Lexington.
Phillip Gay, an actor/singer based out of Brooklyn, N.Y., performed during a meeting of Kentucky high school basketball centennial officials on October 17, 2017. Gay will play the lead role in "Bounce: The Basketball Opera," which will premiere in Lexington in November.
