21c Museum Hotel draws a crowd for its grand opening
The 21c Museum Hotel opened with fanfare in Lexington on Monday. Founder and CEO Steve Wilson and his wife, Laura Lee Brown, arrived in a horse-drawn Hummer, which is actually a piece of mobile art. The 88-room hotel at Main and Upper streets is in the historic Fayette National Bank Building, which is more than 100 years old.
The hotel welcomed the public inside to look at the exhibits of contemporary art, including several pieces that will be permanent. One of them is Totally in Love, a pair of intertwined lamp posts on the corner outside the hotel.
The hotel’s signature blue penguins were on hand for the ribbon cutting, too.
