State police: 3 found dead after Beattyville fire

The bodies of three people have been found after a Beattyville house converted to multiple apartments caught fire Tuesday.

Crews responded to the house on Country Club Road in Lee County just after 5 a.m., according to a release from Kentucky State Police in Richmond. Some media reported that three people were missing after the fire.

Police said the cause of the fire is under investigation but said Tuesday that arson was not suspected.

After an extensive search, officials found the bodies of three people who had been unaccounted for, state police said. Autopsies for all three are pending at the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office

A representative for the Beattyville Police Department said Monday afternoon that fire crews turned over the scene to state police once the flames were extinguished.
