Bed racing returns to downtown Lexington on Sept. 9

Get your beds ready, set and go!

The Downtown Lexington Corp. is bringing back bed racing to the streets of downtown Lexington for the first time since 2009.

The bed race will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 during the Kentucky Cork, Tap and Barrel event. All race beds will be supplied by Lexington-based Tempur Sealy International, and competing companies and organizations are challenged to decorate the beds to showcase their creativity and team spirit.

Teams of five who are at least age 18 will decorate themselves and their race bed and compete for the most spirited entry. Each team’s race bed will be timed on the course, and the fastest bed will win a trophy.

Applications can be found at Downtownlex.com and will be accepted through Sept. 7.
