Wilmore man in his 80s shot in chest on Sunday, goes to hospital on Monday
A man in his 80s showed up at a Lexington hospital on Monday night for treatment of a gunshot wound to the chest that happened the day before.
Lexington police Lt. Andrew Daugherty said the man, whose name was not provided, was shot accidentally while cleaning a gun and was expected to recover.
“I don’t think it’s anything extremely serious,” he said.
Lexington police were called to the hospital at 7:21 p.m., but after discovering the incident occurred in Wilmore, they turned the case over to officials in Jessamine County, Daugherty said.
