Coroner identifies woman found dead in baseball dugout in a Central Ky. park

A 27-year-old woman was found dead inside the dugout of a baseball field at Suffoletta Park in Georgetown Friday afternoon.

Scott County Coroner John Goble said a visitor to Georgetown Cemetery, which is adjacent to the park, noticed the woman lying in the fetal position on a bench in the dugout and called for help.

The woman, Brittany Powell, of Georgetown, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:45 p.m., Goble said.

He said she likely died about a day and a half earlier.

Goble said the Georgetown Police Department and his office are investigating the death, and toxicology results are pending.

Goble said there were no obvious signs of foul play.

Johnson’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Powell.
