Kentucky man accused of trying to swap girlfriend’s medicine with abortion medication
A Western Kentucky man has been arrested and charged with attempted fetal homicide after he allegedly swapped out medication for his pregnant girlfriend, according to Kentucky State Police.
On Monday, May 25, Kentucky State Police Post 3 was notified after a woman reported that her boyfriend, Abdullah Mohmand, 26, of Bowling Green, had swapped out a prescribed medication with unknown drugs. Court documents say the unknown drug was misoprostol, which is used for medical abortions.
The woman “advised that she was pregnant and had concerns for the safety of her unborn child,” police said. Court documents say Mohmand is the child’s father.
Mohmand told investigators he did not know what misoprostol was and that he and his girlfriend were committed to having the child. Court documents say when investigators showed him the bottle of misoprostol inside his girlfriend’s apartment, he stopped answering questions and asked for a lawyer.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for Mohmand’s residence and found an empty bottle of misoprostol and three more boxes of the abortion medication, according to court documents. Instructions on how to use the drugs were also found inside Mohmand’s residence.
Police didn’t provide more information about the drugs.
Mohmand is charged with attempted fetal homicide. He is being held in the Barren County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond, according to jail records.
State police said the investigation is ongoing. Mohmand is scheduled to be arraigned in Barren District Court June 25.
